Work title: Goals
Man needs goals in life. Objectives motivate man to work and give meaning in life. What was your goal? What is it. What was your life''s goal? You might fail to achieve what you set to be the goal time to time, but when it is accomplished you are joy. People who do not understand this simple truth are still running behind unable to learn from mistakes. They are not happy. Others who have won who have achieved the goal in their lives realize its importance. Those people would not be intimidated or let down by a hurdle suddenly placed in front of them. They compute it as just another obstacle to conquer. A step further, they actively seek for new ones, new objectives and start planning. The fight between me and the goal. Between me and hurdle. In public spaces, what is the source that present us with new goals? Buildings can and does what the sun, the rain or even a man cannot do.
Architecture guides man. For example, from the house to the subway station across the street then to the lecture room - buildings lead people. Or the path from the theater to the restaurant. Man unconsciously reacts and follows the unspoken language of architecture. But what if there is an error in the language, a wrong architecture said? For instance, leading from the subway station to the shopping mall, or the path from the restaurant back to the theater. It happens when it''s face is too bright or when it over stresses on it''s details, and as a result it blinds the minds of the users. Then what shall be done. Can man change architecture with his strength to make it say the right? There is a hope and it is the fact that architecture is also built by man. That it cost a fortune to bulid it prevented from demolishing it is another.
Man has a new goal. What will be our new objective? Now that it is known of both architecture''s language and its dereliction, man''s new objective would be to demolish the dereliction of architecture and rebuild in new form in its place. Big power, and the technology that is proportionally big. Just as a lever breaks when the weight is way too big, a big dereliction requires proportionally big power to change it. Therefore, man''s new objective is power, big power to change big derelictions. When big power is used to change big derelictions, architecture will have purer form.
