In 2015 we are conducting an international, public, anonymous, single stage, conceptual architectural – urbanistic idea design Competition under the topic THINK public SPACE. The focus of this Special Edition of THINK SPACE will be on urban public space. On this occasion Think Space is teaming up with an ambitious and comprehensive project of revitalization of public spaces Zagreb for Me initiated by the City of Zagreb and executed by the Zagreb Society of Architects in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb. We are happy to see many of you interested in the THINK public SPACE Competition, we have put together a list of Q&A submitted by the participants which you can download here. With the submission deadline being 30th of June, there is still time to join in! More details about the registration and competition guidelines are to be found here.
We are also happy to announce the THINK public SPACE (un)Conference which will be taking place in Zagreb on the 2nd and 3rd of October 2015. Traditionally the format of the THINK SPACE unconference brings together participants, awarded authors, jury members, architects and interested individuals in a series of presentations and discussions about the current topic. An unconference is a conference where the content of the sessions is driven and created by the participants, generally day-by-day during the course of the event, rather than by a single organizer, or small group of organizers, in advance. Unconferences came from the realization that "the sum of the expertise of the people in the audience is greater than the sum of expertise of the people on stage" (Source: Dave Winer). As always it will be accompanied by the exhibition of submitted competition entries and relaxed informal socialising in Zagreb.
Early bird registration for the unconference is open until the 15th of July. The participation fee is50 €. More details on how to register can be found on the Think Space website.
We would also like to point out that Publications with competition entries from the previous – THINK SPACE MONEY cycle are available and can be ordered through the THINK SPACE web site as well. In the publication you may find the papers selected by the Evaluation Board; (Tomislav Pletenac, PhD (Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Studies), Ethel Baraona Pohl & Cesar Reyes Najera, PhD (dpr-barcelona), Brendan Cormier ( Volume | Archis ) & Brandon La Belle (Bergen Academy of Art and Design) during the last year's Call for papers.
